The 65th Nagahama Bonsai Exhibition of Japanese Plum Trees
2017.06.29
One of the largest bonsai exhibition of Japanese plum in Japan, “Nagahama Bonsai Exhibition of Japanese Plum Trees” is held from every January to March in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. The venue for the exhibition is a historic building, “Keiunkan”. It is overwhelming to see that there are a 3 meters high plum bonsai tree and a 300 year-old one with pretty flowers exhibited. We would like to show you the video of “The 65th Nagahama Bonsai Exhibition of Japanese Plum Trees” which was held last year (2016).
We interviewed a staff from Association of Nagahama sightseeing, Ms. Umezno in front of one of the plum bonsai trees represents Nagahama Bonsai Exhibition of Japanese Plum Trees, Shoryubai (rising dragon).
The trunk of “Shoryubai” is not like a trunk, it’s more like a skin.
It amazes me that with such a thin trunk, it is still alive and it is being in blossom.
Among the large ones exhibited, there are small and cute ones which look like Hina dolls.
The old plum bonsai trees are as old as dozens of years and hundreds of years, and the old building are matched well.
