Here is the video of Takefu Commercial High School Wind Band Saxophone Quartet of “Comets from ‘The Planets’ by Trouvère” in the 37th Tannan district wind-instrument music ensemble contest held at Imadate Art Hall in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture on January 14th, 2017.

Composer Jun Nagase, who does music arrangements for a Japanese saxophone quartet “Trouvère Quartet”, which was formed in 1987, composed three new songs for Holst’s
“The Planets” and the suite turned ten parts in total. The “Comets” is one of the new songs, and, for reference, other new songs are “The Earth” and “Pluto”.

Saxophone is metal but it is classified as a woodwind instrument. It is a relatively instrument
which was developed to integrate woodwind instrument and brass instrument.
For saxophone quartet, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone sax are used.
In this order, the instrument becomes bigger and lower sound.
