Chaski Spring wind concert "Dos Palomitas" on March 4th, 2017

This is a video of Harukaze (Harukaze means spring wind in Japanese) concert performed by a group of Andean music called “Chaski” at Book Cafe Godou in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture on March 4th, 2017. As a main member, Takeo Takagi from Ono City, Fukui Prefecture formed Chaski in 2016, and Mr.Takagi and his band members mainly perform in Fukui Prefecture.
*Chaski means express messengers who used to run right and left in Inca Empire in the old days in Quechua.
Dos Palomitas (the name of the music piece) starts with a charango solo, which has a sad tune. Then, a zampona (a musical instrument) joins in. After that, a quena (a musical instrument) joins. The rhythmic melody of the music is impressive.
Musical Instruments
charango
Charango is a 5-stringed musical instrument similar to the mandolin. Traditionally, the body of the instrument was made from the skin of an armadillo. Nowadays, most of them are made from wood.
bombo leguero
Bombo leguero is a drum which is covered with cured skins of animals such as goats.
quena
Quena is made of cane or wood, and it has 6 finger holes. How it’s made is very similar to Shakuhachi (bamboo flute).
zampona
Zampona is type of pan flute, made of reeds. It has multiple pipes of different length, which are bound together. Players move their lips along the pipes to make different sounds.
chajchas
Chajchas is made of nuts. Players shake them to make noise.
