Saburo Toyoda, a solitary painter who is from Fukui Prefecture, has drawn native beauty of his home village for over 90 years. He talks about his philosophy. He was born in 1908. He graduated from Imperial Art School of Tokyo (now Musashino Art University) and has been making his living as a junior high school art teacher in Fukui until he was 60 years old. He was committed to painting full time only since he turned 72 years old. Nevertheless, since then, he received a high evaluation in art world and won many global awards such as "The Grand Prize in Salon de Paris". This, as it were, "Late-blooming painter" has a life motto of "Self-denial". The exploration of art by him which was backed by the joy of work and humanism is a message to the young people in itself.
