Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year is a pictograph
called the “Face with Tears of Joy” emoji.
Because it was the most used emoji globally in 2015.
The term “emoji” is a loanword from Japanese.
I feel that characters to express feelings are going back to hieroglyphics. (H.S)
