Lovely view! “The pond of Monet”

2015.12.29

Places to visit

Recently, an unknown little pond in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture
suddenly has begun to attract much attention.
Because it is said that the scenery which the lily pads and
the pretty lotus flowers float on the still water looks like
a famous painting “Water-Lilies” by a French impressionist painter Claude Monet.
Springwater from a mountain flows into the pond constantly,
so the water is always clear-blue and you can enjoy the fantastic beauty.
I would like to see the view with my own eyes sometime. (H.S)

Meaning of colors in Japan

2015.12.28

Arts and crafts

There are two delighting and attractive paintings that have been catching my attention in our studio.

I have always thought that those paintings are stylish and cool.  I have always enjoyed watching them.

Color has meanings.  The meaning of colors varies depending on cultures and circumstances.

Today, I am going to introduce about the meaning of a few colors in Japan.

When you use black and white, it shows that your intellectual thinking part of your brain is growing and or working.

White is the color of refreshing the mind and starting something over.

When white catches your attention, it shows that you may be willing to feel refreshed and or start something over.

Black is the color of pressure and protection.

When you want to be hidden from the world and you want to protect yourself,

you tend to use black.

Black does not allow people to see one’s emotions.

The meaning of blue is soothing and controlling.

You tend to use blue when you want to relax or when you are relaxed already.

It may also shows how you are trying not to use your energy forced out,

and you are saving your energy.

You maybe feeling down and or you are paying attention to yourself as well.

I hope this blog can be helpful for you to understand more about yourself and or people around you including children. (Children cannot express their thoughts or needs as much as adults can, so letting them draw pictures help us to understand about them easier.)

But there is one thing, please remember, these are based on statistics, so it may not be said about you, your friends and or family members.

Every one has different personalities.

Please enjoy colors!!

Cold Scenery (Lake Chuzenji in November )

2015.12.27

Travel

We did not have much snow at all on the christmas day,

I am feeling that we are having a warm winter in Fukui, this year.

It was very cold at Lake Chuzenji in Nikko where I went for a company trip, last month.

So I thought that it would be cold soon in Fukui as well.

But the Japan Meteorological agency announced the tendency of unusually warm winter in January.

It looks like we will not have snow for the new year.

Homemade birthday cake

2015.12.24

Random thoughts

Close friends of mine had a little party to celebrate my birthday.
One of the friends made me a homemade birthday cake.
It was delicious!
She learns making sweets seriously and even does workshops
so the cake looks like it could be sold at a shop.
I think I was able to eat the whole because it was not too sweet :) (H.S)

Three wise monkeys in Nikko and different countries

2015.12.23

Travel

At a company trip to Nikko Toshogu Shrine last month, I took a movie of famous three wise monkeys (which are “see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil”).

It’s the year of the Monkey next year in Japan, so the picture of these monkeys must be used so much for New Year cards.

They monkeys are on the wall of Shinkyusha (Sacred Stable) which is a stable for shrine’s sacred horses.

In the movie, it is introduced as “Umaya” (a stable).

It is said that monkeys are protection for horses so monkeys are carved on this building.

When I saw this first time, it was during a school trip.

I thought it was pretty small despite its popularity.

I wondered why, out of a great many sculptures in Toshogu shrine, this became especially famous.

Actually there are the three wise monkeys all over the world...

It’s interesting that meanings of the monkeys become different depends on different places.

As compared with other monkey statues from other places,

these monkeys at Nikko are more charming which makes sense why they are so famous.
