Wave on the pavement

2015.06.10

Life in Fukui

Looking down from my office, I found an artwork on the pavement.

There was a continuous wave along the yellow line of textured paving block for the visually impaired.

It seems that the wave has no practical function,

so I guess someone should have thought that the pavement was in need of decoration.

I noticed this pattern for the first time after all these years.

Olive blossoms

I have two olive trees in my yard.
Now it’s their blooming season this year.
It’s been six years since I planted the 50-centimeter young trees.
They have withstood heavy wet snow in Fukui and grew to two meters high.
I’m looking forward to bearing a lot of olives in autumn.

Harp concert

I went to the harp concert XVI held at Harmony Hall Fukui last week.
I was fascinated completely to harp in the previous interview at Aoyama harp.
This time, it was the harp concert. Moreover five Grand harps were also in line.
The first part, they played on the Grand harps, the Saul harps and the Irish harps.
In the second part, they played on the harps with male choir Golden Age Fukui.
I felt wonderful performance of the harps and chorus.

An-punch

2015.06.05

Gourmet

I've been to "Fukui-no-megumi-haku" ( Blessing from Fukui Fair ) at lunch break,

and bought a cup of "An-punch" there,

a combination of whippy ice cream made of only vegetal ingredients such as soy milk and soy bean powder, and some soft azuki-bean jelly called "Mizu-yokan" cut in dice shapes.

It tasted good!

It was moderately sweet and I also enjoyed the natural flavor of beans.

Daian Zenji Iris Flower Festival

I am going to go to Daian Zenji Iris flower festival as a Gen Japan staff. This festival will be held from June 6th until June 28th. There will be 60 kinds and 100,000 irises!!! Moreover, there will be a photo contest that anyone can enter for, yoga, tea ceremony, Buddhist foods, music live and treasure of the temple exhibition!!! I always thought that temples in Japan are very strict so that no music live show and or yoga are allowed. My image of Japanese temples has already been changed completely!!
