Charms of Japan

I visited Tokyo the other day. I was so excited to visit the capital of Japan, one of the busiest cities in the world for the first time in a while. One of the good parts of Tokyo is that even though there are so many people that people cannot walk without bump into others, there are quiet streets once you go into alleys off the busy areas. There are fancy cafes, sidewalk cafes and antique stores on those streets so you can enjoy just walking around. Another thing that I like about Tokyo is that there many different kinds of restaurant from traditional ones to modern ones.

If you would like to enjoy nature, you can do so in cities a little distant from Tokyo which are Yokohama and Chiba.

How about visiting Tokyo when you have a chance?

I would like to share a video of “Holger Mette”, “Tokyo in Timelapse”.

Please enjoy!

"Power Spot" in Yamanashi, Japan -Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine- Part-2

Charms of Japan

As I introduced in our previous blog that Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine

is such a beautiful place to visit and you can see large and tall trees there.

Today, I would like to introduce how this shrine was opened.

According to the shrine’s records, when Yamato Takeru-no-mikoto (the ancient Japanese emperor) visited Otsukayama shrine during his expedition east, and he worshiped Mt. Fuji from there. He declared that worshiping the mountain sprit of Mt. Fuji from the north is good. Then a small shrine for Mt. Fuji was built in the area where Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine is located now. This was the beginning of the history for this shrine.

Otsuka shrine is in an out-of-the-way area. It is indescribable, but once you walk in, you will most likely feel the strong energy from this area. If you have a chance to visit Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine, how about stopping by Otsuka shrine as well?

Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine

2016.12.22

Charms of Japan

I visited Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine in Yoshida-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture for the company trip this fall.

As I walked through the gate of the shrine which was large and powerful, there were two large and tall trees standing on both sides of Haiden (the front shrine). These trees are 1000 years old and called Fujitaro Sugi (cedar trees) and Fuji Meoto Hinoki (cypress trees). Even the trees were very old but they still looked fresh, strong and beautiful. When I touched them, I felt very sacred.

There are also the main shrine, the west main shrine and the east main shrine in the precinct

which are registered as important cultural properties. .

If you have a chance, how about visiting Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine?

Autumn leaves in Japan

2016.12.01

Charms of Japan

I visited Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen-jinja Shrine

in Yoshida-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture for the company trip last month.

There were gorgeous autumn leaves with yellow, red and orange ones.

The air was so clean that I felt refreshed and calm.

Autumn leaves can only be seen in the temperate area of Northern Hemisphere. They cannot be seen anywhere in the world. Some parts of east Asia, Europe, America and Japan, autumn leaves can be seen. It is said that the autumn leaves in Japan are the best ones in the world.

Japanese autumn leaves have variety of colors.

Main color of autumn leaves in Europe and America is yellow, but Japan has red, green and yellow ones which create quite a beautiful contrast.

In Japan there are 26 different kinds of deciduous tree and there are 13 of them in Canada and Europe. Therefore, we can see such a beautiful Autumn leaves.
