Animal Killer

2018.08.07

Life in Fukui

Countryside scenery in Sue-machi, Fukui City

Electric fences are always installed around the fields near mountains as well as in Fukui. It is to prevent animals such as wild boar, deer, monkey, raccoon and masked musang from entering agricultural fields.

Power supply for electric fence

The power supply for the electric fence found on a roadside had the product name "Animal killer".

Although it does not actually kill animals, it just gives animals an electric shock. It might not be appealing to farmers who suffer from animal damage unless the name has strength like that.

Beer garden in a shopping street’s square “Shinsakae Beer Park”

Life in Fukui

The beer garden where you can drop by easily was opened in a wooden deck square
“Shinsakae Terrace”
in Shinsakae Shopping Street in the center of Fukui City this year as well.

It’s attractive that they cooperate neighboring 16 restaurants and can send out for varied multinational foods.

It is an open space that you can feel the pleasant night breeze.
I think it’s good for an after-party, too. (H.S)

The wooden deck has an atmosphere of summer.

Moderate outdoor lighting

It’s closing time.

Going to the pottery class in Kanaz Forest of Creation

2018.07.10

Life in Fukui

I have been joining Kanaz Forest of Creation pottery class for last several years, and there is a class of July this week. Although it is 'class', they allow me to do as I like because I'm an experienced member.

So recently I do pottery without knowing what I can finally make.
Like improvisations? No, I guess that is just a child playing with clay.

It costs 22,000 yen per year, and a total of 10 classes are held for 2 consecutive days once a month (closed in August and January). Besides that, members can use the studio for free at any time and so it seems some of the members go there almost every day.

When I came back to Fukui I also felt about the use fee of the tennis court, it is a pleasing point that adults do not need to spend much money on their playing compared to urban areas.

Vase. It may not look so, though.

What has changed recently in the center of Fukui city

Fukui-joshi Daimyo-machi stop

I noticed that the name of this tram stop had changed, walking in the center of Fukui city this afternoon.
It has been renamed to "Fukui-joshi Daimyo-machi"(Daimyo-machi town of Fukui castle ruins) on 24th March from that was "Shiyakusho-mae"(Fukui City Hall) for many years.

Fukui castle ruins Yamazatoguchi-gomon gate

On the same day, the "Yamazatoguchi-gomon gate" which was under restoration at the Fukui Castle ruins was completed, and you can now take a walk from the "Orokabashi bridge" to inside of the castle ruins through "Yamazatoguchi-gomon gate".
It is a few minutes on foot from the "Fukui-joshi Daimyo-machi" stop to here. Even if walking from Fukui station, it takes at most about 10 minutes.

Looking into the moat at the corner of the "Orokabashi bridge", the big carp were swimming slowly.

Sakura-dori street in Fukui city
Today it was announced that cherry blossoms in Fukui city are in full bloom from meteorological observatory. The picture above is of the "Sakura-dori street" which is close to our office and also close to Fukui castle ruins. Fukui is now full of cherry blossoms.

Sakura-dori street, a band of cherry blossoms that runs through Fukui city

2018.03.26

Life in Fukui

On the street in front of our office in the center of Fukui city, the buds of cherry trees look begining to bloom.
This street crosses Fukui City from east to west, and is called "Sakura-dori street",
because all the trees planted along the road from end to end which is about 8.2 km are cherry trees.
The trees are still small at the end of the road, but around the center of the city they are big and will be quite gorgeous as they bloom.
Though you can't open your lunchboxes under them because it is an ordinary road, you can enjoy cherry-blossom viewing while you are in the car or while walking.
Further, you can find a band of cherry blossoms that runs through the city,
seeing from Mt.Asuwa-yama which is known for cherry blossoms too and not so far from here.
