Samurai ( Japanese warrior) hairstyle, "Chonmage" (a topknot) on the old house

2015.11.23

Places to visit

A decoration looks like a “Chonmage” (a topknot) on the roof of an old house standing in the area where it looks like one of the scenes from once-upon-a-time story.

This decoration used to symbolize that residents of this place were really Samurais (Japanese warriors).

It might be a pride of Samurais who lived in the shadows in the mountain village.

I was at “Senkono Ie” in Sakai city in Fukui prefecture.

Dinosaurs at Fukui station

2015.11.19

Places to visit

3 moving dinosaur models at Fukui station.

Facing the station, from the left, they are Fukuiraptor, Fukuisaurus, and Fukuititan.

Behind those dinosaurs, there is a picture of the Jurassic period, and it matches

the 3 dinosaurs and it makes them look more powerful.

Unfortunately, the three dinosaur models exhibition will be finished in December, 2015.

There must be many reasons for removing the dinosaurs but

I feel that they can even add more there.

ライトアップされたグリフィス館

A new daytime sight in Fukui city, “Griffis Museum”, Christmas illuminations were lit up there.
At night time, I always thought that it was dark so it was difficult to walk around this area. Now, it is bright with the illuminations so this place became one of the night sights in the city as well.
As I imagined how Griffis was active during the Meiji period in Fukui prefecture to give hope for the city and Japanese people’s bright future, I just gazed at the lightened up the museum.
The original is better than the photograph so please go and see it!!

And so, I went further to Kyoyo Garden I haven’t gone before across Nishiyama bridge over Route 416. Then, unexpectedly I enjoyed the Japanese garden with the beautiful autumn leaves. I liked the tranquil atmosphere.all the better for the rain. I think it is a great place for viewing autumn leaves.

The best dinosaur park in Katsuyama, Japan, Katsuyama Dino Park

2015.10.21

Places to visit

Today, I visited the dinosaur park, “Katsuyama Dino Park” in Katsuyama city, Fukui, Japan. “Katsuyama Dino Park” is located in the same area where the third best dinosaur meseum in the world is. This museum is now trying to be the best one in the world. This park has just opened on April 24th, 2015 and it has already been visited by over 5 miliion of people. Not only children appreciate this place, but also adults enjoy it as well.

The park is a miniature version of the movie, Jurassic Park. It is not that big one so it takes about 15 to 20mins to walk and watch everything. They are planning to make this place bigger and bigger in the future.

There were many dinosaurs that looked real, scary, and or cute so a child got scared and cried when I was there today. My favorite spot was 4 small dinosaurs were trying to attack a big one. They looked like they were about to jump around and start attacking one for real. There are many speakers in each area. From speakers, sound of dinosaur roaring, eating, and or walking were plaiying ever where in the park.

Of course, I have never seen any real dinosaurs before but this place made me imagine how it would be like to live in the time when dinosaurs ruled the earth.
