Recommendation of Japanese restaurant in Fukui City “Taihei”

2016.08.30

Gourmet

The “Taihei” is located on Hamamachi Street, where is a short walk from our headquarters. Hamamachi Street used to be a high-class Japanese restaurant district in Meiji Period,
so there are still several historic ones there.

Among them, “Taihei” is one which you can go to relatively casually.
When you want to eat delicious Japanese food and seasonal sashimi with friends,
you should choose “Taihei”. It’s a deal.

Everything is so delicious, and they have many kinds of sake so you may drink too much.
Inside the restaurant, it looks like Kyoto machiya (traditional town house) style
and there is a nice tiny garden, which fills with nostalgic and comfortable atmosphere.
Maybe that’s because “Taihei” is popular among women as well.

“Taihei” is a true choice that you would take friends from other prefectures or your clients to.
Chef’s choice dinner is 6,000 yen. (reservation required)
They also provide a lunch menu. (H.S)

Sashimi on a beautiful plate.

Iwagaki (oyster) is seasonal food in summer. You can hardly eat it at home.

Grated lotus dumpling with starchy sauce. It tastes good.

I enjoyed sake from Wakasa region, Fukui in a cool-looking glass.

Inside the restaurant. They have changed the sliding doors to reedy ones for summer properly.

Cafe that you can relax in Japanese rural scenery opened in Fukui City

2016.05.29

Gourmet

A nice cafe “Kisaki CAFE” opened near a popular cosmos garden in the suburbs of Fukui City on 20th May.
This cafe is a sister shop of “Kidoriya” of Katamachi(restaurant and bar area in Fukui City),
which is popular for grilled Miyazaki local chicken.
So they provide “lunch menus” using their specialty Miyazaki local chicken.
Also, they serve cakes of “Sanshuen”, which is a cake shop of long standing in Fukui City,
so that also makes girls who love sweets happy.
How about spending some time at the cafe, feeling comforted in the countryside of Fukui
with the lush greenery?
They also have a terrace. (H.S)

Fukui’s rural scenery is beautiful, isn’t it? (From Kisaki CAFE's Facebook page)

Japanese Grapefruit, Kawachi Bankan

2016.03.21

Gourmet

A friend of mine gave me a big “Kawachi bankan”.

Kawachi bankan is a fruit called Citrus grandis or Citrus maxima which is very similar to grapefruits and oranges.

It is bigger than most of the oranges. It smells very nice.

It has a strong smell which is very similar to grapefruits,

so I enjoyed it as almost like an aroma display for 10days!!!

The taste is sweet.

They make these in a few prefectures such as Ainan town in Ehime Prefecture

and Amakusa City in Kumamoto Prefecture.

Tasty Ramen of Fukui “Terunosuke”

2016.03.09

Gourmet

Recently I often have heard their ramen is good
so I went to the ramen shop for the first time.
Stepping inside, it was dim kind of like a café or a bar,
I mean it was not like a ramen shop at all!
The staff member at the shop are all women, which is unusual as a ramen shop.
So it seems it is easy to go into the shop for women alone.
They also have a service that if you post their ramen’s photo on SNS sites or blog
they serve sherbet for free.
By the way, the ramen itself was very good.
The pork bone broth is a little thick and it goes well with the wavy thick noodles.
And when you ate about the half, a whole stewed egg appeared
and it made me feel like I gained something :)
Please drop in the shop and try their ramen when you happen to come to Fukui. (H.S)

“Kuroton Ramen” Pork bone broth with homemade roasted garlic oil
Garlic is used but tastes mild

”Akaton Ramen” Pork bone broth with red pepper oil
Red pepper is used but not that spicy

Little Kyoto・Echizen Ono’sspecialty “Imo-kintsuba” (sweet potato cake)

2016.02.27

Gourmet

In Fukui Prefecture, there are many delicious Japanese cakes.
Among them, “Imo-kintsuba” (sweet potato cake) of Ito Junwa-do in Ono City
has an unshakable popularity.
I guess that people of Fukui might have experienced
that you asked them to buy it if someone goes to Ono City.
I would be a little disappointed if someone went to Ono and came back
without “Imo-kintsuba.” :)
The “Imo-kintsuba” ‘s thin skin has a good texture,
the filling is rich and creamy as if both create a perfect harmony and it is really good.
Also, it goes well with coffee and tea.
The “Imo-kintsuba” is only sold from September to April,
so if you want to try some, please hurry! (H.S)
