View from Tram

Life in Fukui

There are trams running between Fukui city and Echizen city. And the view from the trams always make me stay in trance. It looks like one of the nostalgic scenes from movies.

Eibo-kun

Life in Fukui

Today I found a lady who was wearing a cute mascot at the front of her dress at Eiheiji temple.

She said it was a hand-made "Eibo-kun", the mascot of Eiheiji Town.

"Ei" is from Eiheiji and "bo" means a monk. "kun" is the word like "Mr." for boys.

And she also said that actual(?) "Eibo-kun" occasionally walks around there.

If you are lucky, you may find him when you visit Eiheiji.

Wind bells

Life in Fukui

I saw a lot of wind bells at Fukui Station.
The cool sounds made me feel refreshed.
You can choose to buy anything you like there.
And when you hear the sound, you would be able to forget the heat. (H.S)

Beer tram

Life in Fukui

I saw the extra tram "Bia-den" near Fukui station the other day.
This is the beer tram of Fukui Railway which is known as a moving beer hall.
It will be run until August 29. I'd like to take this tram once. (Y.Y)

Cycling Road

2015.06.19

Life in Fukui

As I ride my bike here, I can feel a higher level of happiness in Fukui Prefecture.
The hills, the river, rice fields, wildflowers and singing birds cheerfully.
If you are lucky, you can see some horses.
I pass few people on the road on weekdays.
So I have a feeling of supreme luxury to get all the nature to myself.
This cycling road leads you to Eiheiji Temple, head temple of the Soto Zen sect.

Remark : Eiheiji Temple was given two stars by the Michelin Guide lately.
