2015.11.03

Life in Fukui

I sometimes pass by this area and look at this.

The redevelopment building at JR Fukui station near the west gate,

“Happiring” is almost completed.

It is announced that it will be opened on April 27th, 2016.

On the 1st and 2nd floor, there will be commercial facilities and tourism products hall.

One of the concepts of this building is as "The entrance with Fukui flavor."

From the 3rd to 5th floor, there will be a stage for Japanese traditional dance called “Noh” , another stage, multi-purpose auditoriums, Fukui natural branch museum and a planetarium. (Y.Y)

Life in Fukui

Echizen Railway has started commercial operation at elevated provisional line between Fukui and Fukui-guchi from September 27.
The viaduct in about 800 meters of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Fukui station part is assigned to the provisional line.
It's said that the other railway operators use the Shinkansen structure before opening is a rare case. (Y.Y)

Life in Fukui

There is a nice cafe in Echizen Tetsudo Katsuyama station, called "Echitetsu Cafe Ktsuyama Eki".  The cafe was opened on June 28th in 2014.  They kept the building from Taisho time to make this cafe and it was opened as Katsuyama Station has just become 100th years. About 20 kinds of drinks are served including coffee and other ones like orange juice and tea. To make good coffee, they use a siphon coffee extraction instrument at each time receiving order from customers.  They also serve cakes as well so we can enoy relaxing and laid back time there.

Harvest and boars

2015.09.15

Life in Fukui

I did rice harvesting last Saturday.
I am a part-time farmer as many other farmers in Japan
and I usually do only desk work so the farm working is hard physically.
These photos are the rice fields just before harvest.
The electric fence is for wild boars.
Recently, wild boars have moved northward due to global warming
and have increased here in Fukui, too.
So it has become difficult to do farming without such a fence.
The present situation where humans fight boars over crops is sad.
If we were allowed to use guns like some other countries,
we would enjoy a pot of wild boar and hold a harvest festival...(K.A)
