Following in the footsteps of Akemi Tachibana [PR for Fukui]

We have introduced writers who have been in connection with Fukui, and their works in series.
Today, we will introduce about a poet, Akemi Tachibana who was active in Fukui Domain at the end of the Edo period.

In Akemi Tachibana Literature Memorial Museum, they introduce in detail about the great poet in Fukui at the end of the Edo period by displaying poems contained in Dokurakugin(Reciting Poetry for My Own Pleasure), the diorama of his straw-thatched house and books related to Akemi.

In recent years, when the Emperor and Empress visited the United States, President Clinton at the time quoted his poem called "Dokurakugin" (Reciting Poetry for My Own Pleasure) that begins with "A pleasure is", in the welcoming speech, and that led to generate a lot of interest in him.

Also, Akemi's poem collections edited by himself were found among documents donated to Prefectural Archives, and you can see these collections at Fukui Museum of Literature in Prefectural Library.
