Hiking in the mountains in Fukui -Mt.Takasu-

Mt.Takasu is a mountain which is located near the sea in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture.
The altitude of the summit of the mountain is 438 meters.
The shape of mountain is like a lava dome.
In this hiking course, hikers can enjoy the great scenery when it’s sunny.
At the summit, there is Takasu-jo Castle Ruin Monument which
a busho (Japanese military commander), Tokiyoshi Hata from a South Imperial Court
used as the last base during Nanboku-cho period (1336-1392).
Therefore, the mountain is also called the castle mountain by the local people.
I went hiking to Mt.Takasu on February 26th, 2017. Unfortunately, it was rainny that day.
It took about 40 minutes for me to reach the summit of Mt. Takasu from Hakusan Shrine in Takasu-cho.

Go through a bamboo forest and then walk along a farm road next to a rice field.
The scenery of Takasu-cho can be seen for a few seconds.

The road starts getting steep and the path which is split into two appears again.

Go through a cryptomeria forest and the rice field appears again.
There is a starting point for hiking on the right side of a corner of a winding road.

Walk toward behind the mountain along the road which has a small monument on the right.
The ocean can be usually be seen when there’s no fog.

I could hardly see anything because of the fog.
When it’s sunny, Noto Peninsula can be seen.
There are a compass and Takasu-jo Castle Ruin Monument.
