Hiking in the mountains in Fukui -Karikomi Ike Pond-
2019.01.28
On November 2nd, 2017, I went to Karikomi Ike Pond in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture which is famous for the beautiful colored leaves. I took the national route 158 to Ono area from Fukui. I passed Kadohara ski resort and I drove toward Koike Park. It was about 90 minutes from Fukui and it was about 40 minutes from Kadohara. Fukui prefectural road 173 from Kadohara was paved but the it was very narrow, so I had to be very careful driving on the road.
It was only less than 2 minutes from Koike Park to the parking area of Kamiko Ike pond which was the starting point of the hiking course. 5 minutes after I started hiking, I reached a forest road and there was a fork in the road of a stone step course and a rocky course. I took the stone step hiking course. It was about 40 minutes from the fork to Karikomi Ike pond. And the next 10minuts, the road was slightly going down.
Because it was sunny and there was no wind blowing, so the reflection of Mount Sannomine on Karikomi Ike Pond was visible clearly. I enjoyed the amazing color contrast of leaves and blue sky.

There was a sign said that 686 stone steps to reach Karikomi Ike pond at the starting point of the stone step hiking course.
