Mt. Onigatake, which is a 532. 6 meters high mountain located in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture.
Remarks : "oni" means ogre.

Mt. Onigatake has a legend as follows.
"Mt. Onigatake was once called Mt. Nyugatake. Since some time or other, a red ogre and a white ogre began to live and always did many bad things such as attacking passers and women. One day, the village people exterminated the white ogre running about, who came down from the mountain, on the bank of the Hino River. It is said that they changed the name of the mountain to Mt. Onigatake to commemorate the ogre extermination." (From a book about mountains in Fukui)
So what happened to the red ogre?

The mountain is popular because it can be climbed in about an hour. But it has many sharp slopes on the trail, so it might be unexpectedly hard in spite of a low mountain. TAKE02901 introduces the Mt. Onigatake while running.
