Fukui Prefectural Satoyama-Satoumi Research Institute, which is located beside Lake Mikata.
We visited Fukui Prefectural Satoyama-Satoumi Research Institute, which is located beside Lake Mikata and asked Ms. Kitagawa, its chief researcher, about their work and the contents of research. They are examining relations between human and nature from the Jomon Period to today through the observation of pollens in lake and pond sediments. And the research is supported by varve of Lake Suigetsu which is global standard timescale for dating.
Ms.Kitagawa, who explained about the institute, specializes in pollens in lake and pond sediments.
The institute holds the workshops for woodwork using Satoyama resources.
The door’s knobs are comma-shaped jewel which is a symbol of ancient Japan.
*Fukui Prefectural Satoyama-Satoumi Research Institute is going to move to
a research and exhibition facility of varve which is scheduled to open in 2018.
