Places to see in Ono City | Important Cultural Property, the former Hashimoto family house

The former Hashimoto family house is located in front of the gate of an ancient temple “Hokyoji Temple” in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. It is an old folk house built in the middle of the Edo Period, which retains what mountain village life was like in a heavy snowfall area. The Hashimoto family used to be a shoya that is a current village headman. The house was used as a residence until the Showa Period. But in 1973, the house was relocated here from the village of Hokyoji Temple that was suffering from depopulation and was restored to its condition at the time of the original construction.

Today, the former Hashimoto family house is located in front of the gate of Hokyoji Temple.
