Echizen Ono Castle is a low mountain castle which stands towering over Mt. Kameyama (249m high) in the central part of Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. When the castle town stretching at the foot of the mountain is covered with a sea of clouds, only the Mt. Kameyama looks as if it is floating, so it began to be called a castle in the sky.
The scenery can be seen only in early mornings from autumn to winter. Also, some other weather conditions are necessary to see it, so it's pretty difficult to see. Inoue1024 created this beautiful 4K video of the "Castle in the Sky, Echizen Ono Castle" using time-lapse and fast-forward.
The present castle tower of "the Castle in the Sky, Echizen Ono Castle" was reconstructed in 1968.
Mt. Kameyama is floating in a sea of clouds covered Ono Basin.
