Iris flower garden at Daianzenji Temple in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture in 2018

Iris Flower Festival was held from June 2nd to June 24th, 2018 at Daianzenji Temple in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture. This is an annual festival which will be held next year for sure, however it is unsure for the festival to be held the year after next and after that. Next year, the major repair will be started, and it will take 10 years to be finished, so they don’t know if they can have the festival during the repair.

I visited the Iris Flower Festival on the 5th day (June 7th) and the 11th day (June 13th) to take videos and photographs of the iris flowers. A staff from the temple said “the flowers this year will not be in full bloom all together, they bloom one after another. And the visitors can see 60~70% of the iris flowers bloomed at any time."
